Advertisers like to use big words for a common item to make them
seem more important, and in the end get their hands on your
money. If a standard torque wrench works, use it. Otherwise
that compamy will have
to manipulate your wallet, and probably in a big way. Specialty
tools are always overpriced.

Really. A specialty tool could mean an allen wrench.

A hammer is a specialty tool. It's specialty is pounding in nails.
Do you know any other hand tool that does that? (power tools not
included).

For electricians 9" linesman's pliers are a hammer and a prybar. A
rock could hammer nails also though any tool not meant to hammer
nails would be
called a hammer.

Huh? "...any tool not meant to hammer nails would be called a hammer"

Wow, I've sure got a s-load of hammers in my workshop.

oops A rock could hammer nails also though any tool not meant to
hammer nails wouldn't be called a hammer.

I don't know if I made it any better, must have been drunk. :-)

A special service tool is one intended for use on one special bit of
equipment and useless on any other.
I wouldn't expect to be able to buy one from just anywhere, it would
come solely from the manufacturer of the equipment.

A torque wrench can be used on anything where the tightness of a nut/
bolt is critical. You can buy one anywhere.

If I wanted to torque someone off by wacking them in the nuts with a
wrench, wouldn't a torque wrench be a special service tool?

No a size ten boot would fullfil the same function.

Is that in Metric boot size? ^_^

Absolutely not. A torque wrench is used to tighten any threaded
fastener to a specific torque. A "special service tool" is available
generally only from the manufacturer of the product being serviced. A
"special service tool" is only useful for the specific and possibly
unique task it was designed for.

An example of a special service tool is a clutch alignment tool. It
is good for only that one task... unless you need something to throw
at the neighbor's cat when it gets in your garage.

Or shove up the.... never mind. o_O
