Default Chain Saw Lathe

Check this out. The chain saw supplies the power to spin the post
while cutting it.

At about 4:30 into the video he shows how he uses a weighted board to
slow the post down so the chainsaw will cut while also spinning the
post.

Never seen anyone use a chainsaw like that but I have seen some lashed
up lathes tha tworked pretty well for the type of posts he is turnig.

That guy is mad. Asking to have an accident.


Makes no sense, does it? The guys got a lathe and could use the normal
tools on the turning post. Also imagine he's constantly sharpening his
chain saw.

Why do you say that he has a lathe?

Did you watch the video? The post is simply mounted between 2 centers
and it's the rotation of the chain saw blade that makes the post
rotate. There is no "lathe motor" turning the post.

Fast forward to about 4:30 and listen to what the guy says.

Nah, I'm not going to look at it again. I get your point.
Think he would be better served to use something else to rotate it and
cut it.
