"This is only a test"
Perhaps we would be expected to flood the call centers, and
maybe "they" are hinting they want a lot of calls? -- Christopher A. Young Learn more about Jesus www.lds.org .. "HeyBub" wrote in message ... "Cops are preparing for a blitz of panicked 911 calls during a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, blanketing every TV and radio station coast-to-coast, that experts fear could produce a Orson Welles-like fear frenzy. Boston and state police said they're both staffing extra 911 dispatchers to answer calls at 2 p.m. Wednesday, when the 30-second alert from the Federal Communications Commission will interrupt regularly scheduled programming on all TV and radio stations in the United States and Puerto Rico." http://bostonherald.com/news/regiona...icleid=1378990 A couple of observations: 1. If the authorities are pretty sure the test will induce wide-spread panic, clogging 911 operators, people having heart attacks, chickens not laying eggs, and so forth, then why do it? It's supposed to be a "nationwide" test, but what calamity could imperil the entire nation (including Puerto Rico)? 2. Nevertheless, it sounds like a perfect opportunity to run out in your front yard firing every gun you own to scare away the invaders, contagious germs, space aliens, and Occupy Wall Street hippies, all the while screaming "Run for your lives" and "Here Comes Peter Cottontail!" |

"This is only a test"
I wonder what would happen if the gov't did tell the truth?
Caller: What is going on! All my radios and TV are on emergency alert!??? Operator: We're practicing for a national take over, and want to be sure we can get disinformation out. Passerby: Are you making an arrest? Cops: No, we're a bit high energy after four coffees and six donuts, so we decided to go thump some homeless bum. Newsman: So, congressman, what is the likely effect of your latest bill? Congressman: A couple billion in deficit spending, and a lot more pork for the campaign donors in my district. Newsman: Mr. Mayor, what is your reaction to having OWS in your city? Mayor: I like being on the TV all the time, and my cops and body guards keep those unwashed idiots away from me and my palatial governor's mansion. Beyond that, I think they are a bunch of mindless idots who we use for political capital. Newsman: Mr. President, are you afraid that Iran will nuke the USA? Oh bomb Us: Now, let me make myself perfectly clear. Wish they would. It would give me a chance to implement Martial law, and shut down all those houses of legislature and judiciary that keep holding me back. -- Christopher A.
