Default Cleaning gas pipe treads?

I've got to take apart a gas line, union, a T, some stubs etc. What's the
best way to clean the threads before re-assembly?

Thanks,

For the external threads, a wire wheel on a bench grinder.
For the internal threads, a pipe brush from Home Depot or
Lowe's.

Far better to use a regular pipe tap. Price is not all that different
from a internal type wire brush and definitely gets more crud out.
Takes up less room in the tool box, lasts years longer.

I wondered where that URL went. Damn, I dropped it and
couldn't find it any where. Disregard, folks.
