Well they always show the weird and whacky.
Today it was the rodeo at Angola, Louisiana. Life convicts are turned
into the ring with savage bulls. The crowd thinks it's great when they
are trampledd and tossed in the air. All organised by on Burl Cain,
(prison governor) who thinks it's OK because the money goes to local
baptist chapels.

The convicts are the ones in the stripey suits.

Exactly - the Roman Colosseum where crowds watched men fight wild
animals.

So who pays for the health care of these injured prisoners?

Is it necessary to have insurance (of any sort) in place to hold an
event like this?

Why am I not surprised that this could happen in Louisiana, or maybe
Texas, or Alabama?

Why was the crowd tossed in the air and trampledd and why would they
think it is great to be trampledd? And, what is meaning of trampledd?
And what is organised? Don't they teach no grimmer and schpellink on
that island on where you live on?

Ah the power of spin.

If you dig deep enough, you'll find that the prisoners VOLUNTEER to
put on the show.

What? You don't think someone who did something so heinous as to be
imprisoned for life isn't psychotic enough to volunteer for something
like this?

We've got one in Texas, too; the Texas Prison Rodeo (temporarily suspended).
The proceeds are used to buy luxury items for the inmates, such as bread and
shoes.

Just kidding, Texas inmates grow virtually all of their food (except, oh,
coffee, pepper, and a few other items). They grow cotton, gin it, make
cloth, then turn that cloth into all manner of clothing and stuff.

Texas inmates also make stuff for other agencies of government. Everything
from mops to saddles. Take a look here at the amazing variety of things that
can be had on the cheap.

Florida Department of Corrections had boxing teams at many
institutions until about 1978. The crooks were transported by vans and
had escorts.

The federal systems often has outside softball teams play against
inmates. Teams like police, firemen and Air Force personnel. Concerts
from outside groups and even inmate bands.

Federal inmates have also made wiring harnesses for our military
tanks. UNICOR -- http://www.unicor.gov/

They get paid and have vacations from work! Getting as bad as the
British prison system.

I can see someone in Russia not getting it, but assuming you're from
the U.S, it's hard to imagine that you believe someone could get away
with FORCING inmates to do something like that. They (the inmates)
probably think it's a hoot...at least the 99% of the time that they
get to go out and be rowdy for a day WITHOUT getting trampled on.
Guess what, lots of people do that for a living all year long... (Not
me, of course.)
