this same attitude. It's very perplexing to me why Jews tend to

appartus. The 19 (not 9) who were killed were CIVILIANS.

In another extreme irony, one of the people on the ship was a sailor who
was on the U.S.S. Liberty, a ship that was attacked by the Israelis.

Because if they knew all the facts then they could not blame Israel,
which is a popular sport. The situation in Gaza is horrible, but the
Israelis are only one part of the problem in Gaza. Now that the cargo
has been inspected, it's not even being allowed into Gaza by the
authorities, because to do so would be a tacit admission that the
Israelis have no problem with delivering humanitarian aid.

No country can allow ships to deliver uninspected cargo to its shores,
especially since there has been a history of weapons smuggling into Gaza
which is then used in terrorist attacks. As always, the people that
suffer because of the political statements that were being made by the
activists are the residents of Gaza.

It's interesting that the world appears to be tiring of the "blame
Isreal without knowing the facts" game. Most of the reports on this
incident, both in the world media and the U.S. media were pretty
even-handed, emphasizing that the Israeli's were attacked by the
activists, and that Israel offered to allow the ship to dock in Ashdod
and transfer the humanitarian cargo to Gaza. But of course the activists
don't really care at all about the residents of Gaza, they were more
interested in a publicity stunt that had tragicresults.

I went to your link and saw that the suspect sources (Turkish and Al-Jazeera)
are reporting Israeli violence against the flotilla. More circumspect sources
(Times) reports that the two sides are closing in on each other. If you go to
the link in your link citing the Haaretz story, Haaretz headline for that link
is saying, "Israeli commandos: Gaza flotilla crew tried to lynch us" which is
not exactly the same as "At least 10 activists killed as Israel Navy opens fire
on Gaza aid flotilla."

So, let's step back, take a deep breath, and with a little more time and a lot
more information postpone our judgments. There will always be 2 sides to every
story. Has there been 1 episode of a U.S. attack in Afghanistan when the local
population did not claim that ALL the victims were innocent civilians? Do
accidents happen in the "fog" of battle? Of course! But is it likely that the
U.S. military is careless enough to have killed hundreds and hundreds of totally
"innocent" civilians in Afghanistan and not one Taliban? Not likely!

Is it likely that in the 52+ year conflict between Israel and all its enemies in
the region one side has always been in the right and the other side always in
the wrong? Again, not likely. Most likely, both sides have done wrong at one
time or another. Of course, the "truth" in any specific case may be almost
impossible to determine.
