If it's on the Internet and you use it, then it's never "anonymous" and you
are leaving "footprints" that can easily be traced if need be.

Not always "easily." If the communication passes through a server located in
an unfriendly jurisdiction (Russia, Iran, etc.), the tracking authorities
may reach a virtual dead-end.
