Default Some Garmin GPS input please

I know this is offtopic, but there seems to be a quite diverse audience
here.

Does anyone here happen to be using either of these garmin models? The
streetpilot C550, or the streetpilot C580.? I'm contemplating purchasing
this unit and was wanting some input from real users first.

thanks

steve

I use a garmin c330 and a better C340. The later models are much
better.

FANTASTIC BEST PURCHASE I EVER MADE!!! Not as good as knowing the way
but far better than being lost.

I plan on upgrading to a newer model very soon, get your new one with
the latest software, map upgrades

I also have 2. 330 and 340 models. They are very handy when I get into
the big cities. Love the hell out of them. The only thing I dont like is
the map upgrades are like 70/80 bucks and they only cover 1 unit. So, I
have one upgraded and one not. oh well..

Even if you just get the basic model your gonna like it.

Also --- Think of the gas you will save? Now you can get right there and
not drive around looking for it.

The main thing i'm trying to figger out is will it work down on the console
in the shade, or does it have to be on the dash under the glass? Thanks for
the reply.

newer models are better but even my old c340 and ancient c 330 work
sitting on the seat.

I NEVER stick them to the glass!! The tell tale mark makes your
vehicle a target for a smasdh and grab

Best purchase I ever made!!

Check craiglist for used ones.

Garmin iX, C3x0 and C5x0 Navigation Systems

I suggest you search for what you are looking for before posting. They
are very knowledgeable about all things GPS, but they will surely let
you know if the question you asked is already been covered.

Based on the info I found in the Garmin Nuvi forum, my 350 now says
"Lost Again!" instead of "Recalculating" and "Yahoo! You made it to ..."
instead of "Arriving at ..." along with many other things you wouldn't
expect a GPS to say.

Thanks for the reply. I have a MAP76S and it only works under the sunroof
or windshield.

I paid 650 bucks for my C340 a couple years ago, it quickly paid for
itself in saving gas and time

I charge 100 bucks a hour labor, my time is valuable.

I search SCHOOLS and use it for cold calling. takes me to every
building closest first

Why would anyone leave the GPS in their car? Fits into a shirt pocket and I
won't go any further than the gas pump leaving it. Too tempting. I don't
worry about the smash part either. I don't lock my car so potential thieves
can browse at will and find nothing to steal.

I got the friction mount for the Garmin--kinda like a bean bag. Sits on the
dashboard, doesn't move no matter what. For quick excursions out of the car
just put it on the floor where it's hard to see. I was lucky enough to get
it thrown in as a package when I got my GPS, but it's worth the cost.

You can fit a 300 series Garmin in your shirt pocket? Must be a real big
pocket.

Be careful what you call a "300 series". If you Google "300 Series",
just about every hit on the first page will be for the Nuvi 300 series,
which will indeed fit in your shirt pocket.

Weight-wise, I don't think I'd want to carry my Nuvi 350 in my shirt
pocket, but it fits with no problem.

However, Google C300 series (the StreetPilot series) and you will indeed
need a real big pocket.
