All manufacturer's of Unitary Residentila HVAC equipment make models that
are "economy" minded. If that's what you want, that's what you can get.
Most offer several models, some are bottom line, some are top line. What's
your preference?

www.hvac-talk.com is great for heating/cooling info and has both
professional and consumer forums. OTOH the alt.hvac newsgroup is
crazy and nasty, mostly because some psycho thinks he's the moderator
and hates home owners (calls them "home moaners").

Consumer Reports said that central HVAC systems were generally very
reliable, but York, Heil (we have one), and Goodman/Janitrol were
among the worst. The best were Trane/American Standard and Rheem/Ruud.
