I'm about ready to go down to the market with an AK-47 and attack the canned
meat department I'm so sick of spam in my mailbox. What does a person get to help lessen this aggravation? I'm computer savvy, but don't want anything that is going to take a lot of time every day. I also don't want to set it up so that I ONLY get messages from people I list, as that would make it as difficult. I've heard of Agent, and perhaps it's time to spend the time I need to learn this program. But, instead, is there a downloadable (free) program that works good, or a good (cheap) program. It's gotten so bad, I've almost quit eating fried SPAM sandwiches. (mustard only, of course) Steve |

Downloads headers only and allows bouncing, if you choose, which is a reply that there is no such address. Also, my isp has various levels you can choose for keeping out the riff-raff. |

Mailwasher's "bounce" feature is a scam in itself and sends the "bounces" to whatever is listed in the From line of the spam; which is usually an innocent party having nothing to do with the spam. If it weren't for that fact, it'd be a good app. But they KNOW about the problem and refuse to fix it; been like that for years. I, and many others like me who only look at headers, not the content of spam, will report such "bounces" as the spam they are, even though unintentional, and sometimes that gets innocent users to lose their email accounts. Maybe they've recently fixed it; but I doubt it; they've had that phoney feature since day one. There are other, more reliable and useful programs out there. HTH Pop` |

A scam would be some way that Mailwasher was cheating the user. Not something that possibly annoys a third party. whatever is listed in the From line of the spam; which is usually an innocent party having nothing to do with the spam. These bits a bit expensive, but will give excellent results:
http://www.milwaukeeconnect.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=27&catalogId=40028&langId=-1&mainCategoryId=192327&fromSearch=Y&productId=683 420 They are very fast and aggressive, but do require a very healthy drill to turn them. Sure beats the daylights out of small drill and chisel that has been mentioned. It could also be done with a hole saw, and chipping out the "slug" repeatedly, but it will require some creativity to extend the bit so deep in the hole. Both type of drills would work best to drill from each side to hopefully meet in the center. The Selfeed bit has a lead screw which would not function well if predrilled a lead hole. The hole saw has 1/4" pilot bit and would be happy to work with a 1/4 lead hole. -- ______________________________ Keep the whole world singing . . . .
