Help me before I commit a crime!

Two of my neighbors have gone out of town and left their large dogs alone.
The people may be stuck in Denver for all I know.

But, the dogs are barking all night long.

I have called the PD, and they say it is an animal control problem, and to
call them. I have called and left them many messages, but they are off
until sometime after the Holidays, probably early February.

I have Googled under dog barking devices, and all I come up with is those
rated at 25 feet or less.

I want to buy or build something that will make a dog shrivel up in pain for
about two blocks around me. Can anyone direct me to such a device, or give
me the short tour of directions to make such a device?

I know if the dogs will just get some negative responses to their barking,
they will probably quit. But for now, it's about to drive me around the
corner.

Appreciate it.

Steve

A nice dish of antifreeze will take care of the problem nicely. If you'd
prefer to do the wrong thing, wait until morning, pick a veterinarian out of
the phone book, call and ask for the name of an organization that will come
and remove the dogs. Never call the municipal animal control department.
With few exceptions, they are useless.

SPCA will do little until you aim to kill. It will take you several
complaints, inclusive of the people next door. All complaints written
and mailed off by you and the guy(s) next door.....not just a single
complaint.

Declare the animal under duress; explain in a 911 call they (animals)
may not have adequate care and may need immediate intervention from
the authorized authority (take down the door).

This is temporary; surely?

Hi Steve,

It seems that people always think of negative things to do, which of
course inflict pain, suffering and damage. Did you know that there are
positive things that will better achieve any goal in life. A good dog
trainer could give you the answer in a minute about how to calm the
dogs. Maybe they need some food or water. Maybe some attention.

It is truly a shame to see the cruel and destructive replies here.
Replies which explain how to kill the dogs or leave them run loose to
be killed. It is a sad and deplorable comment on people and the way
they think and behave. It explains why the world is in the condition
it is in.

Why should the dogs have to pay the price for the deplorable behavior
of their owners?

Most likely the owners are not stuck in Denver. Why such a negative
assumption? Hopefully the owners are on the way home.

So the Animal Control is closed until after the Holidays, which you say
is probably in early February. Wow you sure take a long Holiday in
your area or are you just being excessively negative again?

A radio playing some nice music could help calm the dogs, or you.

For you cruel people who recommend killing the dogs with a gun, or
poisoning them to an agonizing death with antifreeze, or letting them
run loose to be slaughtered by an automobile accident which could also
kill people riding in the automobiles, ..... well you have a real nice
Holiday, and remember a man is as he thinks.

This is exactly what you have to do if you want a response. Tell them
the dogs have been left locked up (where ever they are). Tell them
the dogs have no food or water. You will most likely get immediate
atttention.

I personally love animals, but NOT dogs. In fact I can not stand
dogs. Their barking drives me up a wall, not to mention all their
digging holes, and other bad habits. So, i can easily understand
your frustrations. But I also know that if you want the authorities to
react, make it sound like the dogs are neglected and starving and
you'll get them to react.
Remember, abused dogs are cared for, but humans who are abused by dogs
mean nothing.

This is temporary; surely?

If I was living somewhere and paying taxes, I would be more ****ed off
at the municipality for having an unacceptable response, than I would
be at the dogs. Here in NJ, this would be solved with a call to
animal control, who take this type of thing seriously. If the dogs
have been left outside unattended, here you would get a quick response
and they would be removed in no time, and the owners cited.

I'd call the municipal administrator, followed by councilman, mayor etc
and tell them you have a problem with their response.

Because dogs train humans to do things that make victims out of other
humans. Therefore, the dogs are a major part of the problem. If the same
people had parakeets, we'd never have to put up with their inconsiderate
behavior.

Well, obviously Steve you have no compassion at all and are a regular
jerk and waste of oxygen by the sounds of it BUT there is a real
possibility if the dogs are barking from INSIDE the house, there is an
emergency of some sort.

Either they are starving, have to go out or hear or see something that
is disturbing them, ie: like a fire, flood, who knows.

I"m not sure why you say you can't get Animal Control to respond but
you should have a Humane Society in your town too, ( you don't mention
where you live, which in this case of your attitude, could be a good
thing).

Google Petfinder.com. Put in your area and if asked pick a species
like dog. You should be directed to a page that will list all or most
of the rescues and shelters in your area and state.

Try calling or email asap. Time can be of the essence here. I
rescued 4 dogs that were abandoned in a home, ( actually left outside)
by someone that moved states away.

This sounds like an emergency. If this is the first time you've
noticed the dogs making extreme noise after all these years, I'd say it
sounds like something is very wrong.

Dogs CAN be left behind in closed homes by cruel people, so can cats
and other pets.

It is not their fault. How would you like to fall, hurt yourself at
home, and not be able to get help and lay there for days until you die?

If IS possible the pet sitter hasn't come. It is possible the owners
were killed in an accident.

It sounds like some compassion is warranted here, and a suitable
emergency response.

Try the Humane Society, or Petfinder shelter locator first, and fast,
or call your local Humane Society for help, or a listing or shelters
and rescuers.

And there is alway the peek in the window to see for yourself if there
is food and water, evidence of feces ( indicating they can't get out to
potty and abandoned) and or freezing temps, or another problem.

Assuming the dogs are barking just to annoy you is far fetched at best,
and stupid at worst. You know what they say about assuming.

Call someone if you have to call the fire department to report smoke.
OR check with the neighbors on the other side or across the street to
see if they know anything.

Sounds like the animals are in trouble. Dogs don't just bark to annoy
you.

Get help, then get over it. If you have a problem with the dogs on a
regular basis, then you need to speak to the owners when and if they
return.

Is there evidence they have moved? Or just away?? If they've moved,
Abandonment is a crime also.

As far as the others with their neanderthal mentality and obtuse and
really low life retarded stupid worthless opinions of law breaking
violations and actions.

I hope you get stuck in a sinking car and can't get help.

And I hope the city finds you and arrests you.

What goes around comes around.

Steve, Please try to get help for these dogs, or at least go check on
them to make sure their ok.

If I had an address I may be able to get some help, we have people all
over the US.

They actually could be in trouble, by the sounds of it, trapped in the
house with no food, water and unable to get out to potty. Starving is
a terrible way to die. Especially for a helpless animal.

One complaint, a short 2 trip investigation and they took the dog

Here in Las Vegas, Animal Control will tell you to "try and work it
out with the neighbor". Then when you file a complaint, they want two
more from surrounding neighbors, before they act. One day an Animal
Control Officer was parked along a street in my area (one block from
my house), so I stopped and explained the constant barking next door.
I politely asked the Officer to "drive by" the house to observe what
was going on. She would not do this, but instead handed me another
damn complaint form.

When the opportunity presented itself, I sold and moved across town.

Dogs are noisy, filthy, worthless vermin and should be banned. No
exceptions. Cats on the other hand should be mandatory.

As long as cat owners take care of their cats properly, I like cats,

but
letting them run loose as many cat owners do, is totally

irresponsible
and plain laziness on their part too. Hopefully, you're not one of

them.

Yeah. Nothing's worse than being kept awake all night by barking cats.

I don't like seeing them flattened in the street, or killed by other
animals. It's animal cruelty as far as I'm concerned, as well as
laziness on the owners part for not wanting to maintain a cat box, or
even care about their animal. If you don't want to take care of them,
don't get them.

My cat shows no interest at all in going outside. Hunting mice in the
garage is about as close to outside as she wants to get.

Pete C.

Glad to hear it Pete, I'm sure your cat is well loved and cared for.

My cat goes outdoors, but still yells at the door when she wants to use the
litter box. She stays on the property. She keeps squirrels out of the
garden. And, she doesn't make obnoxious noises.

I can say the same thing for some humans. In fact I have more respect
for a dog than I do some humans.

Yes, particularly those humans who keep noisy, filthy, worthless dogs...

So anyway, it's Tuesday. Is your useless animal control department back from
the holiday?

Yeah. Nothing's worse than being kept awake all night by barking cats.

The problem with cats is they kill everything they can catch. Pretty
soon the only thing living in the neighborhood is rats. That is the
only thing that can breed faster than cats can kill them and they rise
to the available food supply left when everything else is dead.

Perhaps in a city. Here in the country there are a number of outdoor
cats in the neighborhood, and there is no shortage of birds, squirrels,
field mice, moles, snakes, etc.

No idea, all my neighbors have cats (and/or horses), no filthy dogs in
the immediate area.

idiots yet today?

No, I have not as I do not presently have an animal control problem.
Perhaps check with Steve B. since he's the one reporting the
disturbance.

Yes, that will be fine until the one day when she doesn't stay in the
yard. It doesn't take much to keep your animals safe...all the time.

Some cats are miserable being indoors all the time. Some aren't. If you can
see past your own nose, it's easy to tell what type of cat you have.

Feral cats are a different story, but allowing a pet cat to run loose
outdoors is just as bad as allowing a child to run loose. Oops, lots of
lazy parents do that too these days.
