Stain isn't paint... You need to brush it in to get enough soaked into the
wood. You are also supposed to wipe the stain off after applying it.

Peter, maybe not but they sell paint stain in a can and a pump sprayer.
Spray is on, roll and/or brush it in.

What are you trying to do?

Default Aerosol wood stain.

Look for Preval units in the paint store or paint section of the big
box stores. Compressed air cylinder and a jar that you fill with your
choice.
