Fixing Existing Texture over a bad Drywall Joint

Hello,
I have a wall that currently has a knockdown texture on it. There is a
distinctly visible line about 1 to 2 inches in width (looks like at a
joint that was not floated correctly) where the wall appears to dip in.
Knockdown texture was applied over this area the texture seems taller and
gives the wall an uneven look.

What is the best technique to even out this area? I do not wish to
re-texture the entire wall. Any help is welcomed and appreciated.

Fixing Existing Texture over a bad Drywall Joint

Lee,
I have a similar problem in a few areas of my house. My contractor told me
that it is because the previous owner didn't tape over the crack before
mudding it. What you might need to do is sand down the entire area to the
sheetrock. Then apply fibatape, mud over that and sand it down as even as
possible. After that point you can add texture and paint. It may be tough
too make it look exactly right though. I haven't had too much luck getting
repair textures to match exactly right but it might be "good enough".
