Hello:
Was wondering how in new house construction they line up the front of the electric (for the outlets & switches)gang boxes with the front surface of the plaster board. Just curious how it is done so neatly, usually. Guess it would be hard for anyone to explain in words. Is there, perhaps, a web site that has some pix showing it being done, etc. ? Thanks, B. |

They use mud rings for the drywall thickness that they will be using, they
mount the box flush with the 2X and then the mud ring is the right depth, then the drwaller uses a zip tool to route out just outside of the mud ring and the drywall fits snug against the wall. Simple as that. Rich "Robert11" wrote in message ... There's no trick to it. The boxes have markings on the side for the different thicknesses of wallboard and most have little tabs/bumps that align the box with the face of the stud at the correct depth. The box can be set a little too deeply without a problem - when it sticks out the coverplate isn't flush with the wall and looks like hell. R |
