Default How to read a newsgroup article

Recently, there have been incidents in this newsgroup that are reflective of
Usenet.

Since we daily have newcomers, I shall attempt to explain briefly the way
things work.

When you see an article with a title like, "Would you **** Angelina
Jolile?", you just ask yourself,
"I wonder what this article is about, and do I want to open it up and read
it?"

Pretty self explanatory. If you are interested in only home repair topics,
chances are that you will pass on opening it up.

If you see an article, and open it up and find juvenile bickering, just use
your markers to flag the whole discussion, unless you just want to get in
there and pig wrestle.

When you consistently see morons who apparently have nothing else to do but
write 200 articles a day ****ing and moaning about the same thing, learn to
use your "BLOCK SENDER" feature to make them disappear forever from your
screen. You won't miss any helpful information, because that is not what
they are dispensing. If they DO happen to post something helpful, there is
no need of reading 500 of their other posts of lunatic ravings.

There are other means of dealing with off topic posts, ranting morons,
sexual deviates, juveniles home alone with a computer, hacks who are
educated beyond their capacity, and just plain boobs. But these few hints
should get you started.

The last one is "Just Say No." Just like when you see dog crap on the
sidewalk, sidestep and go on. You have a pretty good idea what it is. No
need to get on your hands and knees and smell it and touch it and test the
consistency with the bottom of your shoe or just stomp in it for the fun of
it.

It will make your Usenet experience so much better. Just like with
relatives, you can't pick who comes into the newsgroup, but you can choose
who you talk to.

Hope this helps.

This is a fantastic group of helpful experienced people. You just have to
learn how to ignore the dweebs.

Steve
