I have a maytag dishwasher that has been doing a really poor job
leaving a film on everything and tried everything water temp, jetdry,
etc..
I took the filter apart and it comes in two parts. The lower washing
arm sits right on top of a large round filter like object. Under that
their is a screen that encompases the (pump?) It was fairly clean
other then the large round part.
It appears to be a sealed unit with a VERY fine mesh on the top. And
cannot be pulled apart. But its FULL of what appears to be dishwasher
detergent. And I cannot unclog it. And there were crazy soap deposits
on everything down there.
I have changed my detergent a few times before discovering this.

Any ideas ?

Sounds like your water heater temperature could be set too low; or
perhaps something is keeping enough water from getting into the unit.
Just a couple of guesses from a non-expert.
