I have a granite countertop that constantly develops problems in the
seam behind the faucet where thebacksplash and counter are seamed.
Because it is virtually impossible to keep this area always dry, the
silicone clear caulk I use to maintain this seam always degrades in a
few months softens and peels off.
Is there a type of clear caulk that can hold up for this common
problem??

You sure it's silicone? Shoot, I've kept aquariums for decades that have
nothing but silicone sealing the panes, and there's never been a problem with
the silicone degrading (and it's exposed to water 24x7, obviously).

If it's truly silicone, then either you're cleaning the counter with something
that can actually degrade silicone (and I'm not aware of any household chemical
that can do that), or something else is happening here, like maybe the granite
is allowing enough leakage of water/soap under the silicone to eventually mess
up the bond between the silicone and the granite. In that case, I'd look into
sealing the granite behind the sink.
