Early Review of Tempur-Pedic Classis Mattress
This is the first comments I have regarding our new Tempur-Pedic
Classic king size mattress. We also purchased the Tempur-Pedic base. We've slept on it for 5 nights. We purchased ours from a local retailer who was friendly, helpful, and didn't pressure us for a sale. I have not decided if we're keeping the mattress or not. The retailer requires us to keep it for 30 days, which is fine by me. * As we were told, the mattress is at first very firm. With use it softens to it's normal state. We're told to allow about 1-2 weeks before it's fully conditioned. It definitely is softer now than what it was on the first and second night. * I really like the comfort of the visco-elastic memory foam. I find myself really looking forward to going to bed at night. * My wife is undecided about the mattress's comfort. She finds it weird, but also acknowledges that she's getting used to it. * We haven't noticed any odors from the material. * We're generally in agreement that the bed is no hotter than our former spring mattress, but my wife's not 100% sure. * The mattress is extremely stable. Your partner can move around and it has little or no affect on your side of the mattress. * I experience lower back pain with standard spring mattresses as they soften at about 5-7 years of use. This is why I tried the Tempur-Pedic mattress. Unfortunately, I'm experienceing lower back pain with the Tempur-Pedic mattress. When the mattress was at its firmest, the first night, I woke the next morning with no back pain. It was great! However, each day thereafter I'm waking with more back pain. It's still not as bad as our 7 year old spring mattress. * My wife's back hurt on the first night's use, but it's been OK since. * We don't sleep better or worse with this mattress. * I think I may be turning over less with this mattress. It's true this mattress reduces the pressure points normally associated with a spring mattress. I'll post again after another week of use. I really like the mattress and want to keep it. However, the back pain I'm experiencing may cause me to return it and go back to a firm spring mattress. |

Early Review of Tempur-Pedic Classis Mattress
I think the reason it works for NASA is that in space there is no
gravity, so the astronauts don't have back pain. Did you also buy the space shuttle option? It's a bit costly, but well worth it. |

This is a follow-up to my original comments on the Tempur-Pedic Classic
mattress. After having it almost 6 months, we're returning it to our dealer for a pro-rated credit. My back pain increased dramatically over time with this mattress. My wife, who's never experienced back pain in the morning, also started having lower back pain in after sleeping on the Tempur-Pedic. My conclusion is the foam became too soft and unsupportive after it heated up. Before returning it, we flipped the mattress over and slept on the firm non-Tempur foam side. Too improve it's comfort, I also layed a cheap egg-crate foam pad on top of the hard Tempur-Pedic. My pain reduced dramatically over 1 week, and my wife's pain went away entirely. Some people love this mattress, but it didn't work for us. If you try it, be sure you can return it. Also, I began to dislike the sinking-in feeling and the effort it took to turn over. My wife also thought it became uncomfortably hot. We've gone back to a conventional spring mattress and glad we did. |
