best doormat
What's the best kind of doormat to have outside? Best for inside the
door? I've had several types but I don't think any of them worked very well. I live in Alaska so lots of snow in the winter, which is surprisingly dirty. And right now it's spring and very muddy here. Thanks! |

An airlock entryway with a waterproof floor, a bench, and a bootrack. Down here in the lower 48, they are very popular features for the back door, usually called 'mudrooms'. But seriously- any exterior door which opens right into living space, is going to have problems. I cringe when I see hardwood (or carpet, these days) right up to front door. Slate entries, other than the useless 24" squares in cookie cutter houses, serve a very practical purpose. If the shoes are wet, they need to come off when entering. aem sends.... |
