Default Planking for CapeCod Ceiling?

Hello,

HomeDepots' Pacific Knotty Cedar; 6 pieces to the package;
5/16" thick x 3.5" wide x 8' long; installed coverage 14 Sq ft.

Iam installing this on a CapeCod ceiling/(actually roof) (and,
yes, i know better, but that is a long story).

The ceiling doesnot come to a peak, but is flat for
3 and1/2' down the center (side walls are 39").

This is going to be the ceiling to this bedroom. Iam installing
it in the manner of a porch roof, on to 2 by 6, ceiling rafters to
rafter (there are bats of fiber-glass insulation behind these fragile
planks). There is a 2 foot space between each roof rafter. What
is the best way to do this?

Thank you for any help at all.

Not quite exactly sure what your question is, but is this tongue and groove
boards? If it is, then it is installed by blind nailing thru the tongue at a
45 degree angle. I highly recommend a pneumatic finish nailer for this type
of job if there is a large area. Where the flat part meets the angled
ceiling, you will definitely not have a straight line (also the same problem
where the ceiling meets the wall). Unless you have great skill in making a
scribbed cut, I would recommend some sort of strip moulding to cover up any
irregularities. You might take some 1/2 round and rip in lengthwise for the
appropriate angle.

Also make sure you have a vapor barrier on the warm side of that fiberglass.
By the way, a 2x6 rafter 2 feet on center doesn't sound adequate.
