Default Pet-Friendly Flooring?

We have animals that spit up, etc. on our carpeting regularly;
therefore, we are planning to replace the carpet throughout our house
with a pet-friendly flooring. Our pets spit up, etc while we are at
work so it is often several hours before the material can be wiped up.
Seems like good-quality sheet vinyl with a wood-grain pattern would be
our best option as ceramic tile or laminate flooring has seams. Seams
would allow the pet spit-up, etc. to soak in the cracks. Any
suggestions or ideas?

Depends on how much elegance you are willing to sacrifice for the convenience...

Glazed ceramic tile itself is pretty impervious, and looks great, though it can
get slippery (even for people) when wet. As long as you seal the grout
initially and regularly, you should have no problems with the seams. A dark,
contrasting grout can make the tile even better looking.

OTOH, sheet vinyl will work for you and your pets, and likely at much lower
cost. I would stay away from wood-grained plastic, though, because most tend to
look like wood-grained plastic...
