Weird little drawer; what is it?
In my custom cabinet layout in the kitchen we have got a little drawer
as part of the package. This drawer, set next to the sink and below the counter, stretches all the way to the floor yet is no wider than 8 inches on its face. There are three equally spaced partitions in it, so you could lay long objects in it on three levels. We thought that maybe it was for wine glasses, but that can't be. The folks who installed it had no idea either. "It's for whatever you want. Some people use it for cling wrap." And so have we, for lack of a better idea. Who knows what this is? -Pete- |

Not quite understanding your description. Is this really a drawer with an open top (when pulled out, of course) and 3 deep bins, or some sort of side-entry slide out storage rack? The location and size sound like a cookie sheet/serving tray drawer. Kitchen designers use strange stuff like this as fill, to avoid the wide filler panels that would creep in here and there when trying to do custom kitchens with mostly stock sizes. In older kitchens, there is usually one skinny cabinet that ends up used for Big Flat Things, but inevitably, you end up pulling them all out to find the one you want. A pull-out rack with multiple slots makes the things easier to find. aem sends... |

Sounds like one usually used for spices.

We have a pair of them on each side of our sink cabinet. Useful for storing your various cleaning supplies there instead of under the sink. -- Murray Peterson Email: URL: http://members.shaw.ca/murraypeterson/ |

I think we have a winner! In my previous post about cookie sheets, I was thinking of a similar item that has a solid panel down the center, and you put the big flat things on either side of that, catching them behind the rails. aem sends... |

Weird little drawer; what is it?
I have pictures now. Would someone please confirm that this is for
cleaning products? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...4/2fa83ff7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...4/4313c23f.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...4/97b82632.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...4/0a4772d2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...4/880b646a.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...4/ffc8a851.jpg Thanks. -Pete- |

I don't have that (didn't fit in with the tight kitchen space I have), and if I could have, I would have included it. I have a lower cabinet shelf ner the stove devoted to spices, and I need to shuffle them around to get what I want. I could get one of those rotary spice racks for the countertop, but so far I dont' want to devote counter space to one. With your rack, you can quickly see and choose what you want. Banty -- |

I'm in the process or redoing my kitchen and all my cabinet catalogs say its a "Base Filler Pullout". There are also "Wall Filler Pullouts". The pictures show bags of coffee, sugar, flour, etc in it. So basically, there was a narrow space to fill, so they shoved a narrow drawer in it to fill the space. dickm |
