Default Man Hours to Gut and Install a Kitchen?

I'll tell you what. *Every* single project like this I have done has
*always* turned out to cost way more than I thought it would.

There is always "something" I discover that is additional and needs to be
fixed. You tear out everything and discover a problem.

If I were re-doing my kitchen, I would guess it would take me about a month
of work doing it myself. Although I live in a 70 year old house, so this
would include a new window, insulation, new plumbing, new electrical, and
new drywall (In addition to everything else). I'd bet that I would find some
rotten wood on the floor under the cabinets or something which would need
replacement though....

I'm trying to calculate some costs and wanted to see if anyone had an idea
how
long it would take to gut an average size kitchen (14' x 13') completely
and
install cabinets, do plumbing, etc. I know I don't have much detail but
it's
just an average kitchen with an average number of cabinets, etc.

Thanks!

Cindy

if they really know what they're doing, a week, fulltime, IF no
problems come up, but you've got 3 different trades at a minimum -
electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.

You're absolutely right, Bill, it always does cost more than anticipated. I'll
be hiring a contractor and right now the time is critical since I'm trying to
time a move. I wonder how long it would take 2 professionals to gut and install?

I'd give it six weeks, if it's about timing a move.
