Selling an Inherited House
Due to my father's passing away last fall, i am now the owner of a
house and lot in West Virginia. I am in the military on the east coast in Virginia, so i have very little free time for crossing the state and dealing with selling. I've received an informal offer from a neighbor for the house, and i'm satisfied with the price, therefore i have no need for the buy-your-house-fast businesses. This is the first time i've ever owned property and frankly, i have very little knowledge of the actual selling process, the nuts and bolts of selling, as it were. Is there any information available for person to person selling that includes costs, fees, and taxes incurred, the forms that need to be signed, etc.? Will there be more difficulty or taxes because i'm a Virginia resident selling a West Virginia house? Property value and agreed on price is less than $100,000. Thanks in advance, Jeff P.S. There is plenty of assistance in the military about BUYING houses, but none that i've been able to find about selling. I'd rather not hang myself doing this if i can help it. |
