Default CuSO4 safely demildews patio furniture?

I have some wicker patio furniture in a small room with a hot
tub. We expect the furniture to get mildew from the humidity.
Someone proposed to soak a cloth in a 2% copper sulphate
solution and wipe down the furniture with the dried cloth.
(That sounds illogical; I'm just repeating it.)

1. Will this really suppress the mildew?

2. What will this do to people whose bare skin sits on the
treated furniture? (There is a warning on the copper sulphate
bottle about not touching skin.)

Thanks.
