A pre-fabricated Mandala Custom Home in Alaska with an inadequate roof for this climate
In 2003 I purchased a pre-fabricated house from a Canadian company,
Mandala Custom Homes in Nelson, BC. It turns out that they did not do the appropriate cold climate engineering that was required for a house in this climate. My house has ice dams at three levels on the roof due to thermal bridging. I am a first time home buyer and so trusted that the company would make a house that would be adequate for the conditions I described to them. A law suit would not be useful as they don't have much money. They don't want to build a new roof for my house even though they have used the information gained from my house to benefit their company and their new cold climate roof designs. I have illustrated-documented the unfolding of this story on the following site http://www.forestmandala.com/index.html I feel saddened that I have to bring this into the public eye but after almost 2 years of feeding them information and getting back suggestions for partical fixes and refusal to provide me with a new roof, I feel this is my only option. Any suggestions on how to deal with this and leverage the situation would be helpful. Thanks |
