Default NiCad Charging

Hi.
I have a question.
I have a regulated 12v supply, 12v 700mAh NiCad pack.
How do I trickle charge the Nicad pack.
Have tried using a small resistor (400-600r) as a constant current source
but the current drops off to .8ma as the pack voltage reaches 11.5 ish
volts. Obviously the pack just discharges in minutes.
Any ideas, or do I need to raise the supply voltage.
Thanks.

Try using a charge circuit that contains a incandescent light globe in
series with the supply current.
The co-efficient properties of the Tungsten filament should provide a
certain amount of current limiting as the battery is being charged.
A 12 volt 5 watt car globe should be sufficient.

HTH.
