Default ? about mA

I was given a LCD screen from a car vcr system. The display needs 12 Volts
AC, but makes no mention of the mA requirements. I have a sony 12 Volt AC
adaptor that as 300 mA. Will it be damaged if the LCD requires more? Also if
I purchase an adaptor with to high of a mA value can that damage it?

I have searched online trying to find info about this particular LCD screen
but cant find any detailed info with regards to power requirements, so I
figured Id look for help here.

Are you sure it requires 12 VAC ? Cars are DC battery! The current (ma)
should be at least 20% or than the label on the LCD. If you use the AC
adapter, and it should be DC, you will destroy the LCD! Also if DC is
required, the polarity of the connections must be right! Post back with more
info, maybe we can help.

I dont have anything other than the screen itself, so I am not sure. But on
the power input it says DC 12V.

So does that mean I need a converter to use this in my house?

You need a Regulated DC power supply capable of producing 12 VDC. If you
were to use a supply of at least 1 amp, that should surfice! OBSERVE the
polarity! The + from the LCD must go to + of the supply, and - to - as
above.
