Default What is the definition for ESD Pulse Withstand?

I am new to electronics and want to know what ESD Pulse Withstand
means. The term is in this file.

Probably referring to what amount of Electro Static Discharge current will
be tolerated by a specific device before failure.

The device your looking at protects the circuit against electrostatic
zaps (for want of a better word). Each zap is seen as a high voltage
pulse, which the device absorbs, preventing damage to the other devices
in the circuit. The ESD Pulse Withstand figure is the number of zaps
that the device can handle before it starts to break down - in the case
of that part, 1000.
