Problem with JVC RX250 receiver

Amplifier part still works great, after all those years tuner is
hardly receiving anything. Changed cable antenna connection, checked
to see if the internal antenna connection was ok, used the FM wire,
but it can't find anything automatically, only real bad reception of
some stations...

Any (specific) help?

If it's a digital tuner, I have found that discriminator and VCO adjustments
often fix problems like this. Especially if the scanning doesn't stop
correctly on stations. The discriminator adjustment is really best done in a
shop. If the VCO potentiometer is marked, a semi-knowledgeable person can
often adjust it himself.
