old ultracapacitors?
Dear All
I'm hoping to scrounge a couple of small ultracapacitors ( = "EDLC", or supercapacitor, or pseudocapacitor) from obtanium. I've heard they're used in some small consumer items. Could anyone tell me potential sources of such junque? eg should I be looking for old mobile phones, or cameras, or CD players, or what? Cheers Richard |

They're very high internal resistance and useless for anything that takes any current at all. mike Hi Mike Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing though? The ultracapacitors I'm thinking of have quite low ESR (tens of mOhm) and typically deliver 8-20 A short circuit current for something the size of a small electrolytic cap (which equates to low power compared to a capacitor, but is plenty of current for me!!) For example http://www.maxwell.com/pdf/uc/datasheets/PC_Series.pdf or http://www.maxwell.com/pdf/uc/manual...ule_manual.pdf Cheers Richard |
