Move a US TV to Europe? Don't bother, won't work.

While you could technically make it work with satelite, there's no point, it
would be cheaper to sell it and just buy a TV in Germany.

AFAIK, Germany uses only PAL B/G, not Secam - at least it did when I
lived there about 7 years ago.
Secam B/G was used in the former GDR, but I think those areas have long
since been converted to PAL since the entry of capitalism.

Yes, with a NTSC to PAL scan convertor...........

Most of the modern TV-Sets that could bought here in Europe
are multimode TV-Sets, they can used with nearly all PAL-Norms,
NTSC and SECAM as well. They automatically swiches to the right norm.

That is NOT the case.
VCR's are a different matter, and are often multi-mode in playback mode.

It is the case in the UK, except for the really cheap ones.

However I think the original poster was from the US? Their TVs and VCRs
are rarely multi standard.

Has anyone encountered a multi-system TV that correctly identifies
PAL60 mode? My Sanyo CPP3250 detects 60Hz and switches to NTSC - it
doesn't look at the colour carrier frequency. I've had to modify the
jungle IC with a manual override switch.
