I AM HAVING TROUBLE GETTING MY TV TO TURN ON. IT HAS THIS HISSING WHEN I
PRESS THE POWER BUTTON. I LOST THE REMOTE DURING A RECENT MOVE AND IT HAS
NOT POWERED UP SINCE. I TOOK THE REAR PANEL OFF AND AT THIS POINT, I DON'T
KNOW WHETHER TO TRASH IT OR CALL A TV REPAIRMAN. ANY ONE WHO HAS SEEN THIS
PROBLEM B4, PLEASE ADVISE THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION. LOST IN ORLANDO, FL.

a few tips spring to my mind:

1) don't use all capitals please - see usenet etiquette
2) how long does the hiss last and is it from the speaker?
3) try getting a universal remote for your set to see if that solves
things
