My DVD player suddenly started showing everything (including the screen
saver) in black and white. It is connected to a big screen Sony with an S video cable. It works fine except there is no colour. Colour on the set from other sources is fine. Is the problem likely with the DVD player, the cable or the input on the TV? Thought I'd solicit some ideas before I wade into the bird's nest of wiring back there to experiment. Thanks ds .. -- =^..^= |

Could be one or more bad solder connections - try GENTLY wiggling each end
of the S-cable. Mark Z. "DS" wrote in message ... My DVD player suddenly started showing everything (including the screen saver) in black and white. Usually, it's set in one of the menu options. Alan Harriman Mark Z. "DS" wrote in message ... My DVD player suddenly started showing everything (including the screen saver) in black and white. FYI, the problem was a bent pin in one of the connectors. It must have got
squashed somehow when it was reinserted while I was re-wiring a couple of things. Although I bought a new S-Video cable before I realized this (and it fixed the problem) I believe the damaged cord can be repaired using a pair of small needle nosed pliers to pull the bent pin straight again.. Thought this might be of interest to anyone suffering similar problems. Tx to those who responded. ds "Mark D. Zacharias" wrote in message ... It could be that the chroma signal in the S-video circuit is open, which in turn could be due to a broken chroma conductor in the S-video cable. Make sure the player is set to the correct TV standard. Some players have a button on the remote, or menu option for NTSC/PAL. If it's set the wrong way you won't get any color on most TVs.
