Default Brother BR-3 "Domino II" stereo Mystery Part/schematic needed

Working on an early 70's "Made in Japan" combination stereo by Brother
International. Model number on the rear jack panel states "Model
BR-3". Has top-mounted standard BSR record changer and AM/FM stereo
tuner/8-track control also top-mounted. It rather looks like one of
those cheap generic drop-ins that they put in consoles in the 70s.
Etched on the circuit boards of the amplifier is "SC-12" in several
places.

Amplifier got shorted somewhere in its lifetime, cooking the output
transistors (2SC699A and 2SC1223). There's a small epoxy part that
looks like a small round mauve blob with two leads and no ID
whatsoever. There's nothing silkscreened on the board at all and no
identifying marks on the companion part for the good channel. It goes
between the collectors of each half of the output transistors. This
mystery part on the bad channel turned to charcoal. Any ideas what the
heck this is? Ideally I'd like to find a schematic for this stereo,
but I haven't had any luck. Suggestions for bringing it back to life?
Thank you!

Silicon diode. Use a IN4001 or similar.
