I am replacing a shorted cap and the replacement I have is about 1/4 the size
of the original. The value is the same 2.2uF 50V bipolar. This is going in a tv. Thanks for any help |

Exactly, you left out the problem. Assuming your questioning whether or
not you can use this cap, YES. |

Are you positive it's shorted? Disconnect one lead of the cap and
recheck. Dead short is rare in a cap I think. |

recheck. Dead short is rare in a cap I think. oops sorry forgot to ask if it was ok to use =) Yeah the cap is pulled out of the circuit and reading zero ohms. Thanks for your help. |

Check to see that the temperature rating is the same or better than the

Welcome to MY world. Have you ever seen an old style 'wet' electrolytic? Or
a KT66? N Cant say that I have seen one personally only in pictures =) Are you sure your replacement is also bipolar? -- The e-mail address in our reply-to line is reversed in an attempt to minimize spam. Especially, if you are working on an older set, the parts from just a number
of years ago were 2 to 5 times larger than of today. When replacing capacitors, use 105 deg Cels rated caps if possible. These will last a lot longer. -- Jerry G. ===== "Harvey" wrote in message ...
