Default NAD2030

Hi and thanks for reading,
I have acquired an old NAD2030 stereo amplifier that keeps blowing fuses.
I wonder if you know of a source of service manuals for such a beast!

Thanks again,
Happy New year

Why? check the transistors.

Something is shorted. Most likely the output transistors, and their related
drivers have to be checked and replaced. Also, the cause of the failure is
very important to locate and service before applying the power back again.

You will most likely have to give the unit out for proper service, unless
you are properly trained, equipped, and experienced at this type of work.

When the output devices short out, the drivers often get stressed and
lose current gain or become leaky, so these should be replaced too.

Mark,

Are you sure about the model number? I know most of the older NAD
products (at least in the USA) pretty well, and don't know of a 2030,
which would be a power amp. I'd guess that you have a 3020 integrated
amp.

In either case, the other posters were correct that you are likely to
have shorted output transistors, though it is also possible that you
could have shorted filter caps, or a bridge rectifier. At least those
should cover 97% of the failures. You can contact NAD at
www.nadelectronics.com They are the most likely to have the correct
manual for your model. It would be a good idea to include the serial
number when contacting NAD.
