Default Sony 53XBR45 Power on problems. Advice appreciated?

I have a KP-53XBR45 that seems to have taken a turn for the worst.
Current symptoms:
Press the power button, you hear what sounds like a relay click (normal) -
and see the "standby" light blink once - sometimes a short twice. Then you
hear the relay click again, like the TV was just turned off.

No photo, no picture.
I've searched - such is indicative of a capacitor problem?

Might be worth mentioning that previous to this, the unit wouldn't always
power down via the switch. Pressing the button would power it down and then
back up ocassionally.. The remote worked fine.

Advice appreciated.

Problem solved:
fuse on the board went. Tech suggested that one of the convergence ICs
went, but he didn't check - just suggested replacement.

Cost?
2 Convergence ICs (wanted to keep a matched pair) - $100
Labor $250 (required board significant soldering skills) - under 1
hour.
House call - $50.

Total with tax about $450.
Good news was that he cleaned the lenses - picture is much better now!
