Sony KV-32S42 problem
I have a Sony KV-32S42 TV that won't turn on anymore. I tried both the
remote and the power button on the set and all that happens is the red standy/timer light flashes. No picture at all. Reconnected the other components to another TV and that works fine so I'm sure the problem is in the Sony. An electrical problem? Picture tube? If the latter how much might I be looking at? Thanks. You have a tv with no run power. No way to know what it will take to
fix it without getting inside the tv and doing some basic tv power system troubleshooting diagnosis. Your best bet is to take the tv into someone with experience on Sony sets for an estimate of repair. That way you can decide if it is worth fixing or not. Odds are low that with that symptom it is the picture tube, but given that it is a Sony 32", it is possible that the picture tube is bad, but only proper diagnosis inside the tv will tell. Scott,
Don't know if this helps however I am working on a similar set (32S22) that had that problem. The flyback transformer was bad and I believe a common fault on the Sony TVs. Kirk S.
