Default Nokia cell phone not working

This is a basic Nokia cell phone with a US Cellular logo. It is type 5120,
NSC-1NX. The battery charges to 4.1 VDC so it appears to be good.

I have another Nokia basic phone, pushing the Power button turns it on.

With this one, using same button shows no result, there is no display. The phone
shows no scratches and no sign that it was dropped.

What is likely cause of no display?

That model was notorious for bad contact to the LCD display...I know, I've
had at least a dozen of them. Contact from the display module to the
circuit board is strictly pressure-fit...no actual solder connection or
socket involved.

However, if there was power, the keypad LED's would light. It could be a
bad pad on the membrane switch, or a dirty contact on the circuit board.
That's easy to fix. Just pull the faceplate and membrane from your working
phone and substitute (after cleaning the circuit board contacts with an ink
eraser). You can verify the LCD by plugging in the charger. Whether the
phone is on or off, there is a 'charging' message on the display.

In any case these are getting long in the tooth. Replace it with a newer
phone. If you must keep this model, contact me off list. I've got at least
four of them which I've since replaced with newer equipment...as well as
numerous accessories.
