JVC KD MK66 CD mulichanger disc tray sticking
I have a problem with this in-car 12 disc multichanger; the trays advance
about 1/2 way then stops with a buzzing noise from the drive train gears, after about 2 seconds the tray retracts and has another go, this repeats about 6 times before an error code appears on the head unit. If I manually assist the tray during the load sequence, the tray does eventually move into position and the disc plays; the tray seems very stiff to move. The problem occurs for all 12 trays, so it's not the magazine. I tried a small amount of silicone grease on the rails that the tray slides in, but to no avail. I haven't tried dismantling the tray advance mechanism as it is well buried. I am hoping that somebody has seen this problem before and can give me a few clues. Sounds like time to dig into the unit and see what the problem is. It might be a messed up gear/belt, dried up grease, or dirt. -Chris |
