Default PS2 dead after modding with Mars MP-388

I've modded my PS2 (v9) with the above chip. At first it worked 100%, then
after playing for a few hours it would not boot up on a reset. If I left it
for a hour then tried again it worked. Not it doesnt boot up at all.

I've removed the mod and all wires but it still doesnt boot.

The screen is just blank. The reset/eject lights come on, and I can hear the
dvd drive spina and the head moves.

I've double checked for solder splashes and all the fuses are working.

Any ideas?

ROFL. Backup games. Yeah because games are so prone to failure!

I've lost a few games, someone left one on the floor during a party and it
got stepped on, had another slip out of my hands and tumble onto asphalt,
yeah it was my fault but stuff happens.

Yes and no. If you're in the US, then doing anything which breaks
encryption or copy protection runs afoul of the DCMA. I can't comment
on the legality in other countries.

As an example, fair use says you can make back copies of DVDs however
you have to circumvent the CSS copy protection which violates the
DCMA. No idea when the courts will settle the disparity.

As for you're PS2, do you have the old chip (I guess this is an
eprom?)
