help - no display on Sony CDP CE315
 

I have a Sony CDP-CE315 CD changer. The display doesn't work. Well, that's
not quite true; sometimes, once in a while, the display does work for about
5 minutes.

There are no buttons on the remote for disabling the display.

I'm comfortable working on it and have ordered a service manual. Until it
arrives, any ideas for things to check? Just curious if there any known
issues with this model.

I'd strongly suspect bad solder connections along the FL tube itself, where
it solders to the front board.
