Default RCA TV F27702SB CTC169CA6 "Dog"

Hi,

This RCA TV CTC169CA6 (10/95) "died" (no storm), said my customer. I
replaced the following parts: 5A fuse, Q4101 # 200165 ("chopper output"),
C4108 39uf 100V 105 deg., U4101 # 200419, CR4122 # 200158, C4102 2.2uf 100V
105 deg., C4141 470uf 180V 105 deg. I opened the B+ line to the FBT for
intial power supply test. Other parts tested ok, but the power supply will
not "run"! What did I overlook?

Thanks in advance, Brad

Diode rectifying the 15V standby, IIRC CR4118.

One question how can you tell the SMPS is running? I use a scope on
1v scale and lay the probe on side of SMPS transformer. In standby it
is in burst mode.

Wait till you are sure the SMPS is humming along and checked the volt
on the CR4118. If it too low, change it (11V is minimum).

Oh, forgot to change other two capacitors as well. 470uF 35V and 15uF
100V (get it from RCA or supplier if have it, both rated 105C and hi
freq). I always do all four capacitors.

Cheers,

Wizard
