Default Mitsubishi VS-50703 symptoms

I have a Mitsubishi VS-50703 with the following symptoms: 1st time the
screen went all white and no sound after the TV was on for 6 hours. I
turned it off, but did not unplug it and the next day, it would not come
on - the screen was black and no sound. Next I unplugged it, let it sit
for a day and then turned it on. Everything was fine, good picture and
sound. I turned if off for the night. The next day I turned it on again
and the screen was all blue with some distortion at the top left, also no
sound. I unplugged it and let it sit overnight and this time the screen
is black again with no sound. I read some other discussions about this
model and looked for coolant leak, but there was no trace. Also the store
that I bought it from in Austin, TX is no longer in business. Does anyone
know if there are some simple things to check, where I could get a
schematic for this model, and/or a good store to service it in Austin, TX.
When I called the Mitsubishi 800 number, I got referred to the store that
is now out of business. Clyde

Suggest calling around and find a shop that is MGA Authorized and have them
come out and give you an estimate. They may find probable defective caps
throughout the set inclusive of the PIP circuit. Call MGA back and ask them
for viable service facilities in your geographic area and ask them to update
their database.

Not likely that caps are the problem in this set. This was built long after
the sets with extensive capacitor problems. Much more likely to be coolant
that was missed. Good techs look and miss it all of the time because it is
hard to see the very small amounts that sometimes leak and the stuff
migrates so completely.

We service these all the time and they are very reliable sets aside from the
coolant leaks and the typical RPTV convergence outputs.

The rest of the advice is good. Find a Mits ASC that does a lot of these.
