Default LG W909i vcr - probs setting videoplus

om...
A friend recently gave me a LG w909i. I have been able to record
direct from TV using the QSR button on the remote. But when I try to
use videoplus I can bring up programme details on the screen but don't
know how to 'set' the timer. There is no timer button. As a result
the programmes don't record. Buttons on the remote that I don't know
what they do but don't seem to activate timer are VISS, A.TRK. C.LOCK.

don't know your setup but does it have
a button lablled SV/V+ ?

This is based on a LG PW904i

You don't need a timer button. Just power it off (on the remote) having set
the timer, and it will be in timer mode. As long as you have a cassette in,
of course. Try it on a manual (no PDC/VPlus) setting for say 5 minutes
time, for 1 minute. Turn off the power (01/Operate) and see what happens.

It's just a User Interface thing.

Don't ever leave an important tape in the video with the timer set if your
used to having to actively ask for TIMER mode.

Buttons that exist on the remote that I don't know what they do (no
instruction book) are VISS, A.TRK, C.LOCK but I don't know if they're
relevant.

VISS:VHS Index Search System. When you record a new piece of video, it
will "MARK" the start of the recording. VISS lets you find the next/last/n th
program. Press VISS (display should say VISS) and use REW or FF to scan the
tape. You'll see a preview of each program as it finds it.

Hit VISS or STOP to get out of this mode.

A.TRK: Auto track. Press it if the picture/sounds are duff, it will have
another go at auto tracking.

C.LOCK: Child Lock. Press this, and "LOCK ON" appears on the display.
All front panel controls on the video lock out, except STOP/EJECT. To cancel,
press C.LOCK again. Obviously you have to hide the remote for this to
be effective.

If this video ever goes wrong, as in unresposive, fluorescent display
lighting up all over the place, power light won't stay on, then the
power supply is as rubbish as the one in the PW904i. Get the electrolytics
all changed, and try again

Mike.
