Hello.

I've got a Sony digital-8 video camera. I keep getting an error
message that is C31:22. Anybody have any idea what this means? I
suspect I've got to take it to a Sony repair place, but I want to make
sure it's not something easy to deal with first (battery, etc.).

Lucky. Your error message starts with Cxx:xx. So you can repair by
yourself.
There is error message list and how to fix it in manual book. Check it out
(like head cleaning, moisture, etc.).
If your message starts with Exx:xx, then go to service center.

Check for head cleaning, moisture, etc.... in the camera.

IIRC C: errors are easier to be repaired.

replace the horizontal output transistor[HOT] by 'yendor'

It's a take-up reel fault (C31:22). The t/u reel table isnt turning or more
likely isnt sensing the rotation.
Its a very common problem but a job for a pro.
