Default Lasko model 5532 stand up "ceramic" heater

The kids unfortunately paid a lot of money for this piece of crap that
now has no display, and just beeps once when plugged in. I found a
fuse on the control board but it is good. Also found what looks like a
thermistor glued to the back panel that reads 10K when cold. Tried
jumping it but same symptoms. Has anyone worked on one of these?
Thanks. Lenny
