Have you tried contacting Sharp direct ? Most of the big Jap manufacturers
are pretty helpful at supplying legacy user manuals.

Well, no ...... I didn't imagine for one moment that they would still list
VCRs on their automatic website manual downloader, which was why I used the
word "legacy". I was thinking more in terms of sending an engineer's begging
email to a real person in customer support, who would be quite likely, in my
experience, to just find the original pdf that has now been removed from the
server, and send it to you as an attachment ...
