I've seen three tests in this group from you today: 1532, 1536, and
1602 (all times UTC). If you're not seeing them, could it be an OE
problem?

I guess you've got it sorted now but this has highlighted another use
for running a news proxy. I use Thunderbird as my client via the
Hamster news proxy server which I originally set up to filter out all
the googlegroups and aioe.org spam. All I had to do was put the name of
the new server into Hamster, wait for it to download the posts and all
was well. No changes needed to be made in the client and no need to
resubscribe to any groups.

Yeah, all working now thanks. Actually, it wasn't so much that it was hard
to do, if a little tedious, just that it really gets on my wick when ISPs
find it necessary to change something that has worked absolutely fine for
years. I dare say that the problems that I had today were due to server
overload, when everyone found the messages from the ISP on the groups, and
then went trying to get their new server address set, as I did. Still, I'm
back reading and posting ok on all my usual groups using OE, and my X-News
is working ok also. Now when I can figure how to delete that old profile
from X-News, then I will be back on home ground !

Oh - NTL !

Yes, read about this problem elsewhere. Server change it seems. It can bugger up
the post numbers. You have to delete and reload. Anyway you're sorted now.

Bon Chance !

Ask x-news questions in news.software.readers.

Have done and have got the answer needed, thanks
